life story
Sergeant Major Jonathan Savitsky, 21, served in the Egoz Unit of the Commando Brigade.
Jonathan was born in 2002 in the settlement of Na'ale.
In 2017, his family moved to the city of Modiin, where he graduated from Ironi Gimel High School.
The first thing Jonathan did after his family moved to Modiin was start preparing himself for combat service at the age of 14. He loved fitness, engaged in bodybuilding, and participated in a combat fitness group. It was in this group that he met his girlfriend, Adi. They shared four happy years together, from the age of 17 until his last day.
Jonathan fell on the first day of the war (October 7, 2023).

The Story of the Battle at Kisufim Outpost
On the morning of October 7, 2023, at least 3,000 terrorists from Hamas infiltrated kibbutzim, villages, and IDF bases near the Gaza border. Jonathan's unit was deployed and sent to liberate the Kisufim outpost, which was under terrorist control. Due to the urgency of the mission, there was no time to equip the soldiers with grenades and LAU missiles (which the terrorists possessed)-the Egoz soldiers arrived with only their personal weapons.
When the Egoz soldiers arrived to free the Kisufim outpost, there were 32 unarmed female observers, three women, a baby, and 14 Golani Brigade soldiers (most of them injured) who had been trapped in the command room. The battle for the Kisufim outpost lasted about seven long hours, during which all 50 people inside the command room were rescued unharmed. However, this came at a heavy price: Jonathan and his two comrades, Amit Peled and Elad Sason, were killed.
We will remember them forever!

Jonathan loved the songs of the band Sabaton and would "play" the songs in his head during the difficult marches he endured as part of his commando training.
This is one of those songs:
